Front Crankshaft Oil Seal For 4M40 Engine (Part # ME202850 / BH5679E) - Timing Gear Case Seal

Got an oil leak at the front of your 4M40 diesel engine? This is the front crankshaft oil seal (also called the timing gear case oil seal) you need to fix it. The part numbers are ME202850 and BH5679E, and you'll need one per engine. It's the seal that goes where the crankshaft sticks out of the front of the engine block, right behind the harmonic balancer or crankshaft pulley. Over time, these seals get hard and crack, letting oil drip out. Replacing it is a pretty involved job because you usually have to remove the radiator, fan, belts, and the crankshaft pulley to get to it. But if you're seeing oil collecting around the front cover or dripping from the bottom of the timing cover, this is likely the culprit.
